The Folly of Antisemitism: Israel’s Destiny of Salvation

NOTE: This article is partially complete. I’m not sure when I’ll finish it, so I decided to publish it as is. The primary message is there and I think it’s an important one for our time.

——————

It has been on my heart for a while to write about antisemitism and the nation of Israel. I have witnessed a growing prejudice against Jews and against Israel’s existence, even among those who claim to be Christians. In this article I want to show God’s heart toward the house of Israel (i.e. physical descendants of the 12 tribes) and His plan for returning them to the Promised Land and redeeming them in the end times. There are many prophecies about this in the Bible. As Christians, it is important that our hearts and minds line up with God’s agenda, lest we find ourselves opposed to His work in the world.

The Bible states that a remnant of the house of Israel will be re-gathered to the land promised to Abraham and to his descendants forever. They will go through tribulation — even two-thirds will perish. But through it all, Israel will turn to the Lord God, recognize their true Messiah Jesus Christ and be saved as a nation.

God will do this for his glory and because of his covenant with Abraham.

This is not to say Israel is righteous today. It is not. The Israeli government is very involved with the New World Order agenda (as are many governments around the world). Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is horrendous and deserves criticism. But none of this negates the fact that God will save them.

It would be unwise for anyone to have hatred toward a people God intends to save, especially when we ourselves are only saved by His grace. Salvation is a gift that no one deserves!

God’s Covenant with Abraham

Abraham is the father of our faith. When God called Abraham to leave his home in Haran and go to an unknown land, He promised to make Abraham into a great nation and to bless all the peoples on earth through him.

Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” – Genesis 12:1-3, Holman

That nation would become Israel, God’s own people in the earth; the land would be the land of Canaan, the promised land; and the blessing was ultimately fulfilled in the Messiah, the Savior of all mankind, coming through Abraham’s lineage.

God was very specific that the inheritor of these promises was Abraham’s son Isaac, born to his wife Sarah in old age. It was not Ishmael, who was born to Sarah’s handmaid Hagar in a moment of doubt, nor was it any of the sons of Keturah, the wife Abraham took after Sarah died. The inheritance was passed to Isaac’s son Jacob, and not his firstborn son Esau who traded his birthright for a bowl of lentil stew. Then it passed to Jacob’s 12 sons, the progenitors of the 12 tribes of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.

God gave the promised land to Abraham’s offspring as an eternal (never-ending) inheritance:

I will keep My covenant between Me and you, and your future offspring throughout their generations, as an everlasting covenant to be your God and the God of your offspring after you. And to you and your future offspring I will give the land where you are residing—all the land of Canaan—as an eternal possession, and I will be their God.” – Genesis 17:7-8

The patriarchs lived in the land of Canaan until the great famine, when Jacob and his sons moved to Egypt for refuge. The nation of Israel lived there 430 years and grew numerous. God raised up Moses to lead the people out of Egypt, through the wilderness for 40 years and then to the promised land. By God’s hand, Israel defeated and displaced the Canaanite nations and finally inhabited the land. Each tribe finally received their allotted portion.

Israel lived as a nation there for nearly a millennium. They went through the era of the judges and the kings. The first king was Saul, followed by David and his son Solomon. After Solomon, Israel was divided by civil war into the Northern Kingdom and Judah. The people fell into idolatry and rebellion. Eventually God punished unrepentant Israel by driving them out of the land. First, Assyria destroyed the Northern Kingdom and sent its people into exile. One hundred thirty-seven years later, Babylon destroyed Judah and Jerusalem and exiled its people.

God in his mercy restored Judah after 70 years of exile. However, it was only the remnant from Judah who returned. The tribes of the Northern Kingdom remained dispersed:

So the family leaders of Judah and Benjamin, along with the priests and Levites—everyone whose spirit God had stirred—prepared to go up and rebuild the Lord’s house in Jerusalem.” – Ezra 1:5

By the time of Christ, Israel was subdued again by a foreign power – Rome. Except for a remnant (minority), the people of Israel did not receive their Messiah when He came. This failure would bring judgment on the nation again:

As He approached and saw the city, He wept over it, saying, ‘If you knew this day what would bring peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days will come on you when your enemies will build an embankment against you, surround you, and hem you in on every side. They will crush you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.’” – Luke 19:41-44

This was prophecy fulfilled in 70 A.D. when Rome sacked and destroyed Jerusalem. According to the historian Josephus, 1.1 million died, mostly Jews, and 97,000 were enslaved.

But this was not the end of the story for Israel. Israel’s rejection of Christ opened the door for the salvation of the Gentile (i.e. others nations of the world):

By their stumbling, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous.” – Romans 11:11

By faith in Christ, Gentiles become spiritual sons of Abraham and, like a wild olive branch grafted into a domesticated olive tree, share in the promises God made to Abraham:

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness, then understand that those who have faith are Abraham’s sons. Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and told the good news ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you.” – Galatians 3:6-8

And if the root is holy, so are the branches. Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you, though a wild olive branch, were grafted in among them and have come to share in the rich root of the cultivated olive tree, do not brag that you are better than those branches.” – Romans 11:16-18

Our salvation came through Abraham, the nation of Israel, and ultimately Jesus the Messiah. We are now living in the time of the Gentiles, but that window is rapidly closing. God has not forgotten Israel, whose salvation as a nation will come at the end of this age:

So that you will not be conceited, brothers, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery: A partial hardening has come to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written: The Liberator will come from Zion; He will turn away godlessness from Jacob.” – Romans 11:25-26

Let’s take a look at the Old Testament prophecies about Israel’s salvation. I recommend reading the entire sections listed below. But for sake of brevity, this article will only highlight key verses and interpretations.

Jeremiah 30-31

For behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore from captivity My people Israel and Judah, declares the LORD. I will restore them to the land I gave to their forefathers, and they will possess it.” – Jeremiah 30:3, Berean Study Bible

→ God promised to restore Israel and Judah to the land of their forefathers. He specifically named Israel (Northern Kingdom) and Judah. This means all 12 tribes, not only the remnant of Judah that returned after the Babylonian exile.

These are the words the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah. Yes, this is what the LORD says: ‘We have heard a cry of panic—of terror, not of peace. Ask and see: Can a male give birth? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale? How awful that day will be! None will be like it! It is the time of Jacob’s distress, but he will be delivered out of it.’” – Jeremiah 30:4-7

→ The salvation of Israel will be birthed through a time of great distress and tribulation. In the King James Version it is called “Jacob’s trouble.” I believe this time corresponds to the seven seals of Revelation, including the Great Tribulation.

On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will break the yoke off their necks and tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers enslave them. Instead, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.” – Jeremiah 30:8-9

Israel will be freed from foreign captivity and enslavement. They will serve the Lord God and “David their king.” The latter is a reference to the coming Messiah King. Jeremiah wrote those words nearly 400 years after the actual King David, so it was clearly a prophetic and messianic reference. Jesus came the first time as prophet and savior. When He returns, He will judge the earth, defeat Satan’s forces and reign as King. Therefore, the salvation of Israel is associated with the return of Christ and his 1,000-year reign on earth. This is an end-times event.

For I am with you to save you, declares the LORD. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have scattered you, I will not completely destroy you; yet I will correct you in measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.” – Jerusalem 30:11

→ God will bring judgment and destruction on all the nations where Israel was scattered. These areas include North America, Europe, Russia and the Middle East – all places where the diaspora of Israel have lived in large numbers. But He will not completely destroy Israel. He will punish them, and through it all the nation of Israel will be saved.

This is what the LORD says: I’m going to bring the captives back to Jacob’s tents and show compassion on their homes. Cities will be built on the ruins, and fortified palaces will be built in their rightful place.” – Jeremiah 30:18, God’s Word Translation

→ The land of Israel will be rebuilt with cities, home and fortified places. We can look at Israel today and see this has already happened.

When Israel went to find rest, the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.” – Jeremiah 31:2-3

→ Why will the Lord save Israel? Because He loves Israel.

For this is what the Lord says: Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the chief of the nations! Proclaim, praise, and say, ‘Lord, save Your people, the remnant of Israel!’ Watch! I am going to bring them from the northern land. I will gather them from remote regions of the earth—the blind and the lame will be with them, along with those who are pregnant and those about to give birth. They will return here as a great assembly!” – Jeremiah 30:7-8

→ The return of Israel will be a joyous event! The Lord will draw them from the remote regions where they were scattered and assemble them in the promised land.

‘Look, the days are coming’—this is the Lord’s declaration—’when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke even though I had married them’—the Lord’s declaration. ‘Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days’—the Lord’s declaration. ‘I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,” for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them’—this is the Lord’s declaration. ‘For I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sin.’” – Jeremiah 31:31-34

→ This passage about the new covenant appears in the same section as the return of Israel. God gave the law of Moses to Israel at Mount Sinai, but Israel did not keep that covenant. That’s why they were ejected from the land. So God has made a new covenant through His Son, Jesus Christ. Israel will be forgiven and restored under the new covenant in Christ’s blood. This reality also establishes the return of Israel as an end-times event between Jesus first coming and His return.

Ezekiel 36-37

This is what the Lord God says: Certainly in My burning zeal I speak against the rest of the nations and all of Edom, who took My land as their own possession with wholehearted rejoicing and utter contempt so that its pastureland became plunder.” – Ezekiel 36:5, Holman

→ Here God accused Edom of taking and plundering His land. Of all the lands and nations in the world, God said the promised land of Israel belongs to Him. He feels personally about it. Edom was a nation founded by Esau, the son of Isaac who sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for a bowl of lentil stew. Esau’s descendants founded Rome, as explained in Jacob and Esau – Two Brothers, Two Nations in Conflict, Two Destinies. Therefore, this prophecy is really about Rome taking the land of Israel, which it did around the time of Christ. So the restoration of Israel described subsequently in this section occurs after Roman occupation. It is an end-time event.

Therefore, prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: This is what the Lord God says: Look, I speak in My burning zeal because you have endured the insults of the nations. Therefore this is what the Lord God says: I swear that the nations all around you will endure their own insults.” – Ezekiel 36:6-7

→ God was angry that foreign nations desecrated His land. He vowed they would “endure their own insults” and be punished for it. Some of what will happen as described in Revelation is related to this judgment.

You, mountains of Israel, will produce your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel, since their arrival is near. Look! I am on your side; I will turn toward you, and you will be tilled and sown. I will fill you with people, with the whole house of Israel in its entirety. The cities will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will fill you with people and animals, and they will increase and be fruitful.” – Ezekiel 36:8-11

→ Beautiful and hopeful language about restoring the land of Israel and its people.

The word of the Lord came to me: ‘Son of man, while the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it with their conduct and actions. Their behavior before Me was like menstrual impurity. So I poured out My wrath on them because of the blood they had shed on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols. I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered among the countries. I judged them according to their conduct and actions. When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned My holy name, because it was said about them, ‘These are the people of Yahweh, yet they had to leave His land in exile.’” – Ezekiel 36:16-20

→ God explained why Israel was exiled in the past and how it tarnished His holy name. Israel’s rebellion, idolatry and bloodshed provoked the Lord. Yet when they were punished and scattered among the nations, it made Him look bad because Israel were His own people, God’s own “called-out” nation.

Therefore, say to the house of Israel: This is what the Lord God says: It is not for your sake that I will act, house of Israel, but for My holy name, which you profaned among the nations where you went.” – Ezekiel 36:22

→ Israel does not deserve to be restored. That is not why God will do it. He will restore Israel because He loves them, as expressed previously in Jeremiah, and to restore His holy name among the nations.

For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.” – Ezekiel 36:24-27

→ Here again, God declared His intention to gather the house of Israel from exile and bring them back to the promised land. Not only that, but He will cleanse them from sin, put His Spirit in them and cause them to walk in His ways. This is another reference to the new covenant in Christ and pouring out of the Holy Spirit in the end times. Again, this restoration of Israel is clearly an end-times event.

Zechariah 9-14

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” – Zechariah 9:9

→ The daughter Zion rejoices because her King is coming! Daughter refers to offspring, and Zion refers to Jerusalem or more broadly Israel. This verse is about the coming of Israel’s Messiah King. It was fulfilled when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a young donkey.

Spiritual Warfare Is Not Just Attacking Demons in the Spiritual Realm

When I hear Christians talk about “spiritual warfare” or “deliverance,” red flags go up and I become suspicious. While these concepts are legitimate and rooted in the Bible, I have  seen false doctrines and even witchcraft infiltrate into Christian circles under the guise of spiritual warfare and deliverance ministries. In some ways they have been hijacked. In an effort to set the record straight, this article will look at what the Bible says about spiritual warfare and contrast it with some unbiblical ideas.

Witchcraft

By witchcraft, I am referring to spiritual activities that God has clearly forbidden in the Bible. I am using King James for this passage because it seems more accurate than the modern translations:

There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” – Deuteronomy 18:10-12, KJV

Passing a child through the fire is child sacrifice. Like abortion. The phrase “through the fire” may also be translated “crossing over the fire,” implying an interaction across a dimensional barrier or portal with an entity on the other side – a demon or fallen angel masquerading as a god.

Divination is receiving oracles or prophecies from a spirit other than the Holy Spirit. I suspect the majority of “Christian” prophecies one can find online are false, which means they come either from divination or the person’s imagination.

An example of an observer of times is consulting horoscopes, which claim there are favorable or unfavorable times for certain activities based on a person’s astrological sign. That means there is witchcraft in the newspapers!

Enchanters and witches cast spells and perform rituals to influence people or cause something to happen by supernatural means. This kind of magic is real. In the time of Moses, the Egyptian magicians Jannes and Jambres imitated the transformation of Moses’ staff into a serpent as well as the first two plagues of the Lord using occult practices. The power behind it is demonic.
I believe a charmer is someone who influences people’s minds through hypnotic or mind control techniques. I’m not an expert in this area, but I can see how corporate news programs use colors like hues of blue and certain graphics and musical tones to put people’s minds in a more suggestive state before feeding them propaganda. They’re charmers. One of the best ways for people to shatter the matrix and wake up to reality is to stop watching TV.

A consulter of familiar spirits is more commonly known today as a psychic or medium. They commune with evil spirits, typically ones who claim to be angels or spirit guides but are really demons.

A wizard is someone who is knowledgeable and accomplished in occult practices.

A necromancer consults the dead, like the witch of Endor in the story of King Saul. In many cases I believe psychics who claim to consult the dead are actually consulting familiar spirits who pretend to be dead relatives or friends. In this way they can deceive and influence people.

There is a growing amount of overt witchcraft in our culture today and a massive amount hidden like an iceberg beneath the surface. It’s practiced at the highest levels of Hollywood, Washington DC and Wall Street. Here’s a secret: All power in this world comes from the spiritual realm, whether good or evil.

There is also witchcraft happening in the church.

Spiritual Warfare

Many Christians equate spiritual warfare with attacking, binding and casting out demons and demonic strongholds in the spiritual realm through fantastical prayers. This idea is especially popular in Pentecostal circles. I’m not picking on Pentecostals. In fact, they get things right that others completely miss, such the fact that all spiritual gifts are operational today!
However, this is not what the Bible says spiritual warfare is. The Apostle Paul mentioned spiritual warfare in several places in his letters to the churches. Let’s look closely at what he said about it in Ephesians 6 and 2 Corinthians 10.

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” – Ephesians :10-13, NIV
Put on the full armor of God to stand against the devil’s wiles. Paul acknowledged that we are in a war and our ultimately enemies are not even human. They are spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms – the same fallen angels and demons that animate the occult powers discussed in the previous section. These entities are influencing people and controlling events here on earth to oppose God’s agenda of righteousness, goodness and salvation.

Then Paul wrote about how to fight battle – the methods and means:

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place” – Ephesians 6:14, NIV
First of all we need the truth, the belt of truth wrapped around us. We have to discern what is true and speak and believe the truth. The devil has blanketed the world in a think fog of darkness and deception. Yet Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” When we connect to the truth, we are connecting to things of God. When we believe a lie, we are following Satan.
We need righteousness, the righteousness that comes from Christ by faith. As we grow in our faith, we learn to walk in His righteousness and fulfill the law of love.

And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” – Ephesians 6:15

This verse is tricky to interpret. I think it refers to how the gospel of Christ brings reconciliation and peace with God. This peace quiets our hearts, calms our minds and frees us to be in a state of readiness to do God’s will, like a pair of athletic shoes helps us to run and move at will.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6:16-17

Faith shields us from enemy attacks and anchors us to God and His power. Faith is trusting God and the promises of His word. It is really important to study the Scriptures to know what promises to put faith in. As we do, His power and protection are unleashed. We are able to fend off temptations, deceptions and attacks against us as well as make advances for His kingdom.

Salvation gives us hope for eternal life and promises of rewards in heaven. This hope consoles, motivates and directs us. It protects us from despair as we wrestle with troubles and tribulations in this life. In this way, salvation is a protective helmet.

We also have the word of God, which is anything God speaks, especially as revealed in the Bible. Note that this verse says God’s word does not become a weapon until it is animated by the Holy Spirit. In fact, Jesus said it is the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth. So we can’t figure out the Bible with only our fleshly minds or seek education at a seminary degree to find all the answers. We need the Holy Spirit to bring understanding and to apply it. Then it becomes a spiritual weapon.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” – Ephesians 6:18
Finally there is prayer, all manner of prayers to God – praise, thanksgiving, listening,  making requests. When we pray in the Lord’s will, we become like gateways for God’s power to enter into this world from heaven. Prayer changes things. “May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Daniel 10 gives a great example of prayer and its interaction with spiritual warfare. Daniel prayed for insight and then humbled himself before God with mourning and fasting for three full weeks. Finally an angel appeared and give Daniel his answer. The angel explained how he was dispatched after Daniel initially prayed but was hung up for 21 days by the “prince of Persia,” which refers to a spiritual force of evil in heavenly places – a fallen angel who presided over the territory of Persia. Since Daniel persisted in his prayer and fasting, the archangel Michael finally came to assist and the messenger angel was free to break through. Notice Daniel wasn’t binding and casting out demons or praying special “warfare prayers.” He prayed and fasted to GOD. That’s what created the breakthrough in the spiritual realm.

2 Corinthians 10:1-6

Here is another aspect of spiritual warfare:

By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.” – 2 Corinthians 10:1-6
While writing to the Corinthians, Paul acknowledged his reputation for being soft-spoken in person but bold in his letters. He was confronting problems that arose in his absence and hoped they would be resolved, so he wouldn’t have to be confrontational when he returned in person.

Next, Paul discussed the spiritual weapons at his disposal. These weapons even demolish strongholds! What are they? He demolishes arguments and every pretense that contradicts the knowledge of God. In other words, Paul challenged people with the truth – gently yet boldly if needed. His goal was to make every thought obedient to Christ. This is a similar idea to the renewing of our minds mentioned in Romans 12. We mature in our faith by uprooting the lies and replacing them with the truth.
Again, the way to demolish spiritual strongholds is to challenge and confront people with the truth. Truth has a power all its own. It shatters illusions and tears down deceptions. God’s words, which are truth, will accomplish what He intends:
So My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.” – Isaiah 55:11

Spiritual Warfare Is Practicing the Christian Fundamentals:

According to these Scriptures, spiritual warfare is practicing the Christian fundamentals effectively:

  • Truth
  • Righteousness
  • Gospel of peace
  • Faith
  • Hope of salvation
  • Using God’s word by the Holy Spirit
  • Prayer, especially intercessory prayer
  • Challenging people with the truth to demolish strongholds

Growing in these practices are what enables us to stand against evil in this world and have victories over the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms. In this way, we become effective agents of Christ.

This biblical teaching contradicts the idea that spiritual warfare is directly engaging demonic beings with special warfare prayers. Yes, there are times to cast out demons. Jesus cast out a legion of demons from the Gerasene demoniac in Mark 5. The poor, afflicted man was wandering around a graveyard and cutting himself. Jesus set him free and he came back to his right mind. Demon possession may come up more frequently when ministering to people who came out of the occult or who are victims of satanic ritual abuse (SRA) and trauma-based mind control. It’s a legitimate ministry, but it isn’t the main way we engage in spiritual warfare. Practicing the Christian fundamentals is the way.

I do pray that God will protect my family and home from evil. A handful of times in my life I have been harassed by demons at night during sleep and demanded they leave in Jesus’ name. The last time it happened the demon was gone before I even spoke the phrase “in Jesus’ name.” He saw it coming and that was enough! But the primary way we engage God’s protection is by drawing near to him through prayer, truth, righteousness, faith. As we abide in Christ, He automatically covers us with his wings:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘You are my refuge and fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly plague. He will cover you with His feathers; under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and rampart.”   Psalm 91:1-4, Berean
It is God who protects us. We don’t have to protect ourselves by constantly praying anti-demon warfare prayers.

Deliverance Ministries

This brings us to deliverance ministries. Some claim that Christians need to “get delivered” as a matter of course. They suggest demons attach to us like leaches and we need deliverance ministers to remove them and set us free. I agree we are influenced by demons in our thoughts and desires, but what is the right remedy? Jesus never said that Christians need to “get delivered.” The apostles (Paul, John, Peter, James) in their letters to the churches never mentioned deliverance ministry. If this ministry was essential for Christians, surely it would have been mentioned in the Bible! The apostles wrote at length about the importance of faith, prayer, truth, righteousness, hope, love, the Holy Spirit – all the Christian fundamentals. This is how we are set free.

I have seen and heard of deliverance ministries engaging in witchcraft. I know of someone who visited a deliverance minister and was supposedly set free from demons, but then started mimicking the deliverance minister’s false doctrines and messages. Personally I am convinced the reverse took place. It was a demonic impartation.

I admit I’m not an expert in this area. There are godly people who engage in deliverance to help people. However, my knee-jerk reaction toward “deliverance ministry” is skepticism because it’s not one of the Christian fundamentals and because it appears to be an area targeted for infiltration by the occult.

Example of Spiritual Warfare Gone Awry

I’ll give a recent example of unbiblical spiritual warfare that manifested in a slick and deceptive way. The person involved is Glynda Lomax. She has the gift of prophecy and regularly posts messages on a blog and a podcast. I used to read her messages because they seemed encouraging and relevant to the end times we are now living in.

A couple months ago a word and interpretation appeared that claimed God intended President Trump to be a blessing for America but Christians weren’t praying enough for him. This was a red flag for me because over the last three years God has spoken to me clearly that Donald Trump is a deception and an instrument of His judgment. Trump was sent to bring division, conflict and war to our nation and to test the hearts of Christians. Will people put false hope in a man (Trump) or turn to God alone? Here are several previous articles about this topic:

Other prophetic voices have expressed similar conclusions about Trump: Mena-Lee Grebin, Byron Searle, Linda Hasche, Shannon “Boldsojah4Christ” Johnson, Nathan Leal. To say Trump is supposed to be a divine blessing contradicts what the Lord clearly showed me and others. I’m concerned because those who follow Trump and put their hope in him will be judged for it (see the first three articles in the list above). To say we must pray for Trump because God intends him to be a blessing is a backdoor way of getting Christians to put their hope in him – and fall into that trap.

Lomax later delivered a podcast entitled What the Lord Told Me About Pres Trump and America. She said God spoke at length to her one day about Trump and gave instructions to start a spiritual warfare prayer team to counter Trump’s political and spiritual opposition. The underlined quotes are from the podcast. After each quote I’ll write my comments.
“For a couple of hours straight, I got one word after another.”

“I had been researching and writing a warfare prayer against all the witchcraft that’s being sent against Trump. I was researching different things to place in the prayer to make it effective.”

When we pray to God, He hears our hearts and answers if we pray according to His will. God knows what must happen in the heavens and on earth to accomplish His purposes. He doesn’t need detailed instructions or specially crafted words to be able to answer our prayers. However, I have noticed that witchcraft is very concerned with specific details and verbiage, as if a spell won’t be effective unless the recipe is exactly right.

I’m not saying that writing detailed prayers automatically makes it a spell, but this is a red flag.

God began to speak to me. He said, “I want you to build me an army of prayer warriors… Then he said, “I have appointed you a general after the order of Deborah.”

Lomax said God designated her a “general,” a high ranking military officer. This reminds me of another person I wrote about in an article about false prophecy who said God referred to him as “Warrior General.” Hmm, the same God who addressed Abraham, Moses and Jeremiah by their names in the Scriptures and called the Prophet Ezekiel by the generic “son of man,” called that person “Warrior General?” Doubtful. Michael the Archangel might receive a title like that, but a mere mortal in the flesh? I also doubt the Lord would designate a mere mortal this side of heaven a General in the Order of Deborah. The Apostles referred to themselves as servants and slaves of Jesus Christ, not generals.

However, a false spirit who wanted to flatter and puff someone up in order to manipulate them might do such a thing. Keep that in mind. This is another red flag.

“He said, ‘Teach them to do what you do – to pray a list every day. Guide them in how to pray over each issue. Start with the witchcraft prayer for your president. I have ordained him to be my man of the hour, but he has many enemies who are also my enemies. I desire that you would intervene in prayer that I would strengthen him and give him victories.”

Again, this message about Trump contradicts what the Lord showed me. Trump is not God’s man of the hour, except as an instrument of judgment and a “strong delusion” to lead astray those who do not love the truth – in the spirit of 2 Thess. 2.
Moreover, who are Trump’s enemies? Well, there are the Democrats who are in a fake conflict with Trump to keep the nation stirred up, distracted and divided. But no matter who is in Congress and the White House, whether Democrat or Republican, we get more war, debt, chemtrails and abortion because that is the globalist agenda both parties work for. Dismiss the rhetoric and look at they do. They are the left and right wings of the dragon that has seized control of the republic. They are showmen in a phoney contest who work together behind the scenes to deceive the American people. It’s truly satanic.
Who then are the real enemies of Trump? It might be those who expose Trump’s lies and evil agenda, like the small minority of Christians who are awake to what is really going on. So if that person is praying Trump will have victories, then that person is unwittingly praying for an unrighteousness agenda.
“He said, ‘Tell my people that those who take this training, those who will commit to pray these prayers for me for one year, will be fantastically rewarded. I will open doors for them on the earth and give them things they have only dreamed about. I will increase their spiritual power to war in the heavenlies. They will have direct access to me in ways they never had before.'”

Yes, God promises amazing rewards in heaven for the faithful who use their talents to profit His kingdom. But this word says people who participate in this warfare prayer will be “fantastically rewarded” on earth and have things they “only dreamed about.” It sounds over-the-top and strangely focused on earth, not heaven. Who else promises fantastic rewards on earth for pledging allegiance?

Again, the Devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. And he said to Him, ‘I will give You all these things if You will fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus told him, ‘Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him.’” – Matthew 5:8-10

I’m not saying God is ungenerous on earth, but the Scriptures are clearly focused on rewards in heaven. So this message just sounds off. Another red flag.
“I want to pray not only protection over President Trump, but I want to clear a path around him. I want to kick legs out from under those people who are fighting him so hard.”
Lomax wants to kick the legs out from under Trump’s enemies. But Jesus said to love our enemies:
You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 4:43-45

So did the Apostle Paul:

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” – Romans 12:14
“This is warfare. This is not praying blessings on these people. When I said take the legs out from under them, I meant that literally. I’m not playing here. I know what he’s showing me to do and I plan to do it. This training is for hardcore soldiers only… If you want to pray for God’s enemies to be blessed, knock yourselves out, but that is not what this is about, okay? “
Lomax plainly stated her intent is not to bless people. What is the opposite of blessing? It is to curse. She intends to curse people with their spiritual warfare prayers. This sounds increasingly like witchcraft, like hexing people.

There is not one single case that I can find in the Bible where God sent an army into battle for Israel and he said, “Yeah, go bless ’em.” No, he said, “No, go in and don’t leave a one of them alive, no matter if they are young or old.’ He said, “Go get ’em and destroy them,” is what he said in every case that I can find.
She clearly intends to destroy people with their “prayers.” This is appalling.

I understand that God commanded the Israelites in ancient Israel to eliminate the Canaanites in the land. It was an exceptional situation where God used Israel to judge the centuries of evil committed by the Canaanites and to eliminate Nephilim bloodlines (i.e. fallen angel – see Genesis 6) among them.
But we are not under the law of Moses anymore. We are under the new covenant in Christ’s blood:

Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” – Galatians 3:24-25, King James 2000

This is the age of grace and salvation. I understand that when Jesus returns, his enemies will all be destroyed. But not until then! In the meantime, we love our enemies and bless those who persecute us. God said He will allow the wheat and the weeds grow together until the end, lest a good stalk of wheat accidentally be pulled up.
“We are not going to bless or love the enemies of God and the enemies of the cross in the White House. We are going to strip them of everything that we an strip them of. I plan to show no mercy whatsoever, just like when I am fighting demons. I don’t show mercy at all. They have no mercy for us. The people who are fighting President Trump don’t have any mercy for you as a Christian. Did you know that? Do you realize it is the antichrist spirit that is operating against President Trump? It is the antichrist spirit that is in these people. Please hear me on this, please hear me because this is something God showed me.”

This just gets worse. Lomax is NOT going to bless or love the enemies of God, the opposite of which is to curse and hate. She will not show any mercy. That is ironic because Jesus said only those who show mercy will receive it:

Blessed are the merciful, because they will be shown mercy.” – Matthew 5:7

Furthermore, she is clearly targeting human beings, not just spiritual entities, with these “prayers” that are actually curses. She is dehumanizing people by saying they have the “antichrist spirit.” But we all had the antichrist spirit until we were born again in Christ:

You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience.” – Ephesians 2:1-2, World English Bible
This is clearly spiritual warfare gone awry. I don’t know this person’s heart – she may be a Christian who has fallen into deception. Perhaps a root of bitterness or unforgiveness was allowed to take root. One thing led to another, and now Lomax has been deceived into casting curses and hexes and showing no mercy. It was not the Holy Spirit who told her to form a spiritual warfare prayer team to pray for Trump. It was another spirit, a false spirit. This is why I say this is witchcraft – divination, spell casting and consulting familiar spirits. I pray she will get back on track and will not be allowed to pull others down.

Conclusion

We all need to stay true to the Scriptures. Study the Bible! There are so many deceptions in the world and they are increasing every day.

When it comes to spiritual warfare, stick to the Christian fundamentals and you won’t go astray: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, hope of salvation, God’s word empowered by the Holy Spirit, challenging lies with the truth.

Trump the Instrument of Judgment

Many think that Donald Trump is taking a stand against globalism and holding back chaos and conflict in our nation. But the reality is the opposite – he is bringing chaos and conflict.

What I believe the Lord showed me a couple years ago is that Donald Trump is like Gaal son of Ebed in the story of Abimelech in Judges 9. I recommend reading the story to understand what happened.

Gaal was sent by the Lord to divide the people of Shechem and bring about a civil war as a judgment against them for their bloodshed. America is also a nation of bloodshed – abortion and foreign wars – so the analogy is consistent. Many who followed Gaal were killed in civil conflict.

This is why I’m concerned about people thinking Trump is a white knight fighting against the dark forces of globalism (represented by Abimelech in the story). It means they will follow Trump into this conflict and so will be judged.

An often overlooked principle in the Scripture is the need to listen to the Lord and discern the times we live in:

He [Jesus] said to the crowd: ‘When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, “It’s going to rain,” and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, “It’s going to be hot,” and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?’” – Luke 12:54-56, NIV

Jesus’ day was time of the visitation of the Messiah. Sadly most in Israel missed it and that’s why the nation was judged and destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. The consequences for failing to interpret the times can be serious.

What is happening in our time? God is judging America and Donald Trump is an instrument of His judgment. We should act and pray consistently with that reality. Don’t fall into the trap of the coming civil conflict, and don’t think Trump will save us. Look only to God for protection and deliverance. Pray that people will repent and turn to the Lord.

The Four Horsemen Will Soon Ride

Note: This is a revision of an article originally published on March 16, 2015. The events described below are from that time, but the interpretation is updated to reflect my current understanding.

For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” – Revelation 19:10, KJV

Jesus Christ is still speaking loudly and clearly in this day. His testimony is the spirit of prophecy. He is coming quickly to bring salvation and grace to the saints and His judgment and wrath to the world.

A Rude Awakening

In the fall of 2013, I realized that America and the world are headed for great calamity. Before that time, I believed the world was improving and basically a decent place to live. Boy, was I deceived! There are many dark agendas playing out in the world, all of which are building to a crescendo of evil unlike any time in history. For a long time I studied these topics. It was overwhelming, like drinking from a fire hose, and completely changed how I saw the world and my life. There were days I felt deep sadness and mourning for the losses I saw coming. But I also felt hope because I knew this was God’s plan for the end of the age. When Jesus returns, everything changes.

I realized our economy will soon collapse under an unbearable load of debt, unfunded liabilities, money printing and rejection of the US dollar in international trade. The dollar itself will crash and then eventually go away. This is by design. The global elite are preparing the way for an electronic cryptocurrency transacted using the mark of the beast, as described in Revelation 13.

I realized the Twin Towers and a third 50-story building, WTC Building 7, did not collapse perfectly into their own footprints at free fall speeds on 9/11 because two jets hit them. This is physically impossible on so many levels. The evidence points overwhelmingly to a controlled demolition. Our government used the trauma of 9/11 to justify eroding civil liberties with the Patriot Act and engaging in an endless series of bloody “wars on terror” in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.

I realized that the passage in Genesis 6 about “sons of God” having children with human women was about fallen angels producing giant hybrid offspring, which the Bibles calls mighty ones or Nephilim. The Goliath David slew was one of these hybrid giants. Furthermore, Genesis 6 ties in directly to the alien and UFO presence and the many reports of human and animal abductions. Aliens are fallen angels and their minions. As they did in the days of Noah, the fallen ones are engaged in a program of genetic manipulation to create hybrid beings, but this time using advanced technology. This is what Daniel prophesied would happen during the final kingdom of this age, when iron (foreign DNA) will mix with clay (human DNA) in the seed (offspring) of men:

And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men.” – Daniel 2:43, NASB

There are other topics as well. All of them are related and point to the reality that we are living at the very end of this age, i.e. the final generation. Numerous prophetic voices confirm it as well. The world is about to become darker than it ever has, and then Jesus Christ will return to vanquish evil with a sword and bring light and justice to the world – see Revelation 19.

My wife and I reached out to people, both Christians and non-Christians, to try to share what we saw. Naively, I thought people would want to know. We envisioned building a community of Christians who are awake to the times, prepping for what’s coming and seeking God’s kingdom in the final days. Honestly, it was very disappointing. Most people don’t want to touch these issues with a 10-foot pole. It frightens them. They love the world as they perceive it and don’t want to think of it in a more sinister, apocalyptic light, or think that their world is about to change.

There is a sprinkling of people out there who are awake and I am grateful for the ones I know. Strangely, church leaders and pastors seem most resistant to these messages. I am unaware of any churches in my area that openly preach about it.

But God has confirmed this message many, many times and I cannot doubt it: Our nation (and the world) is under judgment, we’re at the end and Jesus is coming soon! It was a mercy to be awakened and have this time to make peace with this reality and prepare spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and materially. Jesus said men’s hearts will faint from fear and expectation of things coming on the earth (Luke 21:26). I give God the credit for waking me up and giving me a chance to be ready.

What’s Coming Next?

Just before Thanksgiving in the fall of 2014, I asked, “Now what, Lord? What’s coming next?”

Later I listened to a radio interview of John Shorey about end-times events in Revelation 6 and elsewhere in the Bible. He discussed various wars and how he believed that the Pale Horse that brings death over one quarter of the earth includes the destruction of Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17-18. I an convinced America is Mystery Babylon, so that grabbed my attention. Shorey also said that he thought the Rapture appears in Revelation 6:12-17, which is an interpretation that occurred to me. It all resonated. The more I thought and prayed about it, the more I sensed the Lord impress on my heart Revelation 6. As in, that is the answer to my prayer. That is what’s coming next.

I shared this with my wife. A day or two later, as we drove home from Seattle and crossed a barren stretch of Eastern Washington, the car had quieted down and the kids were asleep. I flipped on the radio and there was a man reading Bible scriptures. He said, “Next we are going to read… Revelation chapter 6.” He proceed to read the whole chapter. That was an amazing confirmation.

When I got home, I heard the latest prophetic dreams from Pastor T.D. Hale, in which the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse mounted and began to ride. There it was again! Also in his dream, lights all around the world shot up into the sky, which I think is a reference to the great rescue and gathering of the elect.

Then my mother shared with me a vivid dream of her own. In it a black horse was trying to stomp on her, but she stood to the side of it and had it by the reins. People were telling her to watch out, but she said it was okay, she had it under control. I told her that was probably the Black Horse in Revelation 6, which brings famine and privation. Another confirmation.

My mother had another dream that featured a pale green horse. She took out a wash cloth, wet it and said that was its color. The Greek word for pale in Revelation is 6 is chloros, which is the root for English words like chlorine and chlorophyll, implying a shade of green. Chloros can mean pale or ashen as well as pale green. She saw the Pale Green Horse in her dream.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

What’s coming next are the Four Horsemen described in Revelation 6. They come as Jesus the “Lamb of God” opens the first four seals:

White Horse

Then I saw the Lamb open one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, ‘Come!’ I looked, and there was a white horse. The horseman on it had a bow; a crown was given to him, and he went out as a victor to conquer.” – Revelation 6:1-2, Holman

The white horse brings conquest. The rider carries a bow and wears a crown, so he is a political leader, a king. When Jesus arrives to lead the armies of heaven in the battle of Armageddon (see Revelation 19), he will wear “many crowns” and have a sword, not a bow. The rider of the white horse in Revelation 6 is imitating Jesus, but is not Him. Therefore, this rider is a false messiah king, a.k.a. the Antichrist, the son of perdition, the little horn, the first beast. This person is already on the scene today and quietly building support for his reign in the background. Here is a sly hint about who he is. Here is another.

Red Horse

When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse went out, a fiery red one, and its horseman was empowered to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another. And a large sword was given to him.” – Revelation 6:3-4

The red horse brings war. Its rider carries a large sword. Expect to see war between nations and violent, civil conflict within nations.

Black Horse

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come!’ And I looked, and there was a black horse. The horseman on it had a set of scales in his hand. Then I heard something like a voice among the four living creatures say, ‘A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius—but do not harm the olive oil and the wine.’” – Revelation 6:5-6

The black horse brings economic collapse and famine. The rider carries “a set of scales in his hand.” Scales were used in the old world for commerce – to sell and to buy. In other words, they represent the economy. “A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages.” A quart of wheat is enough to make only a loaf or two of bread. How much money do you make in a day? $100, $200, $300? Imagine if you had to pay that much for a loaf of bread. The Black Horse brings an economic crash followed by hyperinflation, scarcity of resources, and famine.

Pale Green Horse

When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, ‘Come!’ And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. The horseman on it was named Death, and Hades was following after him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.” – Revelation 6:7-8

The pale horse brings death. It has authority over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine, plague and wild beasts. I take this to mean a plague of death will affect one-quarter of the world, not that a fourth of the world’s population will necessarily perish. America will be affected since it is the prophetic Mystery Babylon whose plagues of death, mourning and famine will come “in one day” (Revelation 18:8).

Slain for the Word of God

After the fifth seal is broken in Revelation 6, the souls of those who were slain for their faith in Jesus cried out and asked, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will you refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” They were given a white robe and told to wait a little while longer until the number of those slain should be completed. This represents the persecution of believers in Christ.

The Gathering of the Elect and the Wrath of the Lamb

After the sixth seal is broken, there is an earthquake, the sun turns dark and the moon like blood, the stars fall and the sky splits apart. People on earth are in anguish for the coming wrath:

Then I saw Him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair; the entire moon became like blood; the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind; the sky separated like a scroll being rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the military commanders, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of Their wrath has come! And who is able to stand?’” – Revelation 6:12-17

This is the same celestial and earthly scene as the coming of Jesus Christ and gathering of the elect in Matthew 24.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days: The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the celestial powers will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.” – Matthew 24:29-31

In fact, Jesus’ description of the end of the age in Matthew 24 matches the events in Revelation 6:

  • White horse – conquest by Antichrist, i.e. false messiah king:Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many.” – Mat. 24:4, Holman
  • Red horse – war and conflict:You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars… For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” – Mat. 24:6-7
  • Black horse – economic collapse and famine:There will be FAMINES and plagues and earthquakes in various places.” – Mat. 24:7
  • Pale green horse – death: This is a result of war, famine, plagues and wild animals.
  • Fifth seal – persecution and martyrdom of Christians:Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name. Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another.” – Mat. 24:9-10

Given all the similarities between these passages, I believe the sixth seal with its identical celestial imagery implies the coming of Jesus Christ and gathering of the elect, an event some call the Rapture.

After this, the seventh will open up the seven trumpets in Revelation, and the seventh trumpet will open up the seven bowls of God’s wrath. They are like Russian dolls, one inside the other. The seventh seal marks the Great Tribulation, the final 3.5 years of this age when the height of wrath and judgment are poured out on earth.

Please understand we will all experience tribulation on earth – the first six seals, all of Revelation 6 – before the gathering of the elect. Then the Great Tribulation will come, the final 3.5 years of this age.

Please also understand that the gathering of the elect is for those who are accounted worthy – who persevere in their faith and seek to obey Jesus Christ:

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” – Luke 21:36, KJV

Because you have kept My command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come over the whole world to test those who live on the earth.” – Revelation 3:10, Holman

See also the parable of the virgins in Matthew 25. All ten virgins wanted to meet the Bridegroom, but only the wise virgins who took extra oil for their lamps entered the wedding banquet. The unwise virgins were left out because they ran out of oil – i.e. they did not maintain their relationship with Jesus Christ.

I point out these things because there are a couple false doctrines circulating around the Christian community. The first is that Christians will escape tribulation because of the gathering of the elect. Not true. We will go through the first six seals, including the Four Horsemen. The second is that everyone who claims to be a Christian will be rescued during the gathering of the elect. Not true. Those who maintain their relationship of faith and obedience to Jesus Christ will be accounted worthy. This is a challenge I personally feel. We must persevere in faith, because the others will be left on earth to be purified during the Great Tribulation.

Are We Really the Last Generation?

In the parable of the fig tree, Jesus said there would be a final generation that will see all end-times events come to pass:

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near—at the door! I assure you: This generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.” – Matthew 24:32-34

Are we that final generation? I asked God that question, or rather, I asked Him what the fig tree represents, because the sprouting of the fig tree marks the beginning of the end. He showed me the answer in Mark 11! I recommend reading the whole chapter closely because the answer is not stated directly, but is woven into the fabric of the text.

In Mark 11, Jesus encountered a fig tree with leaves but no fruit, because it was not the season for figs. So He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” Later, Jesus and his disciples passed by the tree again and it was withered from the roots up.

Immediately before Jesus encountered the fig tree, He entered Jerusalem, went into the temple complex, looked around and then left. What was He observing?

The next day, Jesus encountered the fruitless fig tree and cursed it. He went again to the temple complex in Jerusalem and was distressed to see all the buying, selling and money changing. He began to throw people out of the temple and said:

Is it not written, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves!” – Mark 11:17

The chief priests heard it and began to look for a way to destroy Him. Jesus was the long-awaited and prophesied Messiah, but the religious leaders wanted Him dead.

Jesus and his disciples then returned to the fig tree to see it had withered. Do you see what the fig tree represents? It represents Israel. Jesus went into the temple complex in Jerusalem to observe the spiritual condition of Israel, because this was the center of religious life. Israel was fruitless, which is the spiritual meaning of the fruitless fig tree. Except for a small remnant, Israel had rejected their Messiah. Thus the fig tree was cursed and withered, and thus Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD and Israel withered.

It withered until the time of the end and Israel sprouted leaves again. There are many prophecies in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah about how God will regather the house of Israel to the Promise Land in the last days as part of His plan to save the whole nation. This began to happen on May 14, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion, head of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, proclaimed the establishment of the state of Israel. US President Harry Truman recognized Israel that same day. That was 70 years ago this year. According to the Psalms, a person’s life and by implication the length of a generation is 70 to 80 years:

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years.” – Psalm 90:10, NASB

My friends, we are not only the last generation but the tail end of it. Seek God in humility and repentance because the world in its present form is quickly passing away. Jesus Christ is coming soon!

Our Hope Is in the Age to Come

Lift up your eyes to the sky,
Then look to the earth beneath;
For the sky will vanish like smoke,
And the earth will wear out like a garment
And its inhabitants will die in like manner;
But My salvation will be forever,
And My righteousness will not wane.
– Isaiah 51:6, NASB

Our hope is in the age to come.

We were born into this world and it is all we have known, so it is natural to think this is all there is. The temptation is to think that if we are going to have a good life and a future, we must build it here and now in this present reality.

For this world in its current form is passing away.” – 1 Corinthians 7:31, Holman CSB

However, by faith in the word of God we lay hold of the truth: This world in its current form is passing away. This is not our home. This life is a testing ground where are our eternal destinies are decided. Did we repent of evil and believe in Jesus Christ to have eternal life with him? Or did we go along with the world and follow Satan into the lake of fire? Not only is our eternal position determined here, but our eternal rewards as well. God generously rewards faithful service. Jesus said to store up treasures in heaven where they endure forever, not on earth where everything will perish. That means He wants us to invest our talents and resources into doing good and advancing the Kingdom of Heaven, not building our own fiefdoms destined to perish quickly.

When I say quickly, I mean quickly! The Holy Spirit has revealed that we are approaching the end of this age. Judgments are coming on the world. The Four Horsemen of Revelation are riding. The battle of Gog and Magog and the destruction of Mystery Babylon is coming too, as well as the New World Order beast kingdom. This generation is going to see it all.

It is critical to build our faith in God and prepare to deal with suffering, persecution, calamity and loss. We must detach from this world in its present form and put our hope in the age to come. Jesus said in this world we will have tribulation. It’s not going to be fun retirements with generous pensions and Caribbean cruises. The prosperity preachers’ promise of “our best life now” is causing people to put their hope in this world and leading them astray – exactly what Satan wants. Shepherds need to tell their sheep the truth of what is coming from the pulpit, otherwise people may lose their faith in the fiery trials ahead.

So where is our hope? Our hope is in the age to come. Our hope is that Jesus is coming back to defeat Satan and his minions and bring peace and renewal to earth for a magnificent thousand-year reign. Beyond that even greater things are coming – a new heaven and a new earth! It’s all good if we are in Christ.

How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace

And brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices,
They shout joyfully together;
For they will see with their own eyes
When the Lord restores Zion.

Break forth, shout joyfully together,
You waste places of Jerusalem;
For the Lord has comforted His people,
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord has bared His holy arm
In the sight of all the nations,
That all the ends of the earth may see
The salvation of our God.

Depart, depart, go out from there,
Touch nothing unclean;
Go out of the midst of her, purify yourselves,
You who carry the vessels of the Lord.

But you will not go out in haste,
Nor will you go as fugitives;
For the Lord will go before you,
And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Money Ministers and For-Profit Prophets Leading the Sheep Astray

I’m just an obscure person with a blog that Google has shadowbanned for nearly two years, so few people find it through Internet search engines. [This WordPress mirror is an attempt to get around that.] Readers have to be referred directly. Yet the blog receives a regular stream of visitors, so I am thankful for that.

Still, I cannot compete with the celebrity Christian ministers and personalities who have big voices and numerous followers and fans. More and more, I hear these big names hail President Trump as some kind of King Cyrus who is anointed by God to restore America and make it great again. It makes me sad and sick because I see something very different. I see these Christian celebrities using their influence to lead people leading people into deception and judgment. All I can do is my small part to push back against it.

The Trump Deception

To anyone who will listen: Please don’t fall for the Trump deception. This is a big one, a doozy. It’s part of the end-times “powerful delusion” that God is sending to determine who will be judged:

because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, in order that judgment will come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12, Berean Study Bible

Why? Because the promise of Trump, and what Trump embodies personally, is a lie from Satan himself: You can have blessing, prosperity and greatness – without repentance and without walking in God’s righteous ways. Sadly, America as a nation and its lukewarm churches DO NOT walk in God’s ways.

As for Trump personally, he explicitly said he never asks God for forgiveness. This is a man who does things his way, the world’s way:

Trump has always been a man of the elite and used to be a liberal Democrat, until he repositioned himself as a conservative nationalist to run for president as a Republican.

But it’s actually much worse than that. Circumstantial evidence is overwhelming that Trump is a high-level freemason, which means he participates in Luciferian secret societies. Nathan Leal has done an excellent job exposing this – check out The Trump Chronicles – Part Five – Trump Tower & the Invocation. In other words, Trump invokes pagan occult rites that originate from ancient Babylon and Egypt. This is the source of his worldly success. He is backed by the Luciferian brotherhood and by principalities of darkness in the heavenly realms.

This also means Trump is a member of the New World Order elite, the group of people Satan is using to establish his beast kingdom on earth, as depicted in the Book of Revelation. Jacob van Dyke presents evidence that the NWO elite have been planning a Trump presidency for a LONG TIME:

So Trump is playing his part in the take-down of America. As I explained in Civil War Foreboding and President Trump’s Fascism Is Starting to Show, his role is to stir up a spirit of conflict in America that will divide the country and provoke a form of civil war/conflict. I believe Trump is publicly identifying with Christians and the right, so that when everything implodes on his watch, Christians will be blamed and the floodgates of persecution will be opened.

Diabolically brilliant, isn’t it?

Shannon Johnson “Boldsojah4Christ” portrays it all very well in this truly inspired rap song:

America’s Fat Shepherds

Then the word of the Lord came to me saying, Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, “Thus says the Lord God, ‘Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock? You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat sheep without feeding the flock.'”‘” – Ezekiel 34:1-3

Why are so many of America’s celebrity ministers and big-name Christian personalities leading people astray? First of all, be immediately suspicious of anything popular. The Scriptures say Satan is the god of this age (2 Cor. 4:4) and the whole world lies in his power (1 John 5:19). So, it is a red flag whenever the world runs after something en masse like Trump. The way of righteousness is not popular. Jesus put it this way:

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

Among the Christian ministers who are speaking against the Trump deception – Nathan Leal, Shannon Johnson, Jonathan Kleck, Mena Lee Grebin, Kerry-Ann Gidden – I see a couple common characteristics. First, they are not popular. They are known but not popular and broadly praised like the big-name celebrities. Narrow is the way that leads to life.

Second, they do not sell their instruction in the word of God and prophecies for money.  In contrast, the celebrity ministers are always selling books, DVDs, conferences, etc. for MONEY MONEY MONEY. This is a sin so commonly practiced in the American church that few even consider it wrong. But the word of God says it is. It also carries specific consequences:

Her leaders issue rulings for a bribe,
her priests teach for payment,
and her prophets practice divination for money.
Yet they lean on the Lord, saying,

‘Isn’t the Lord among us?
No disaster will overtake us.’

Therefore, because of you,
Zion will be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem will become ruins,
and the hill of the temple mount
will be a thicket.
– Micah 3:11-12, Holman Christian Standard Bible

Jesus Christ paid the price in full for our salvation. Salvation is a free gift. Therefore, it is an abomination to when ministers sell the message of salvation and the word of God for money, as if the ministry of the gospel is a corporate enterprise.

When ministers instruct for money and give prophecies for payment, as a consequence they will start to speak ear-tickling delusions in the name of the Lord. “Isn’t the Lord among us? No disaster will overtake us.” When in fact the opposite is true: God’s judgment is upon the land and destruction is coming, in part BECAUSE OF the corruption of its ministers and how they are leading people astray. “Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become ruins.”

This is definitely true in America. Celebrity ministers are telling people how Trump will make America great again, because they have been given over to delusion.

I am not saying it’s wrong for ministers to accept donations or a church to hire a pastor and pay him a salary. But it is wrong to sell books and videos unless they are also made freely available online. It is wrong to charge at the door for conferences and speaking engagements. Again, donations are fine, but entrance fees are not.

So be careful who you listen to. Money ministers and for-profit prophets will lead you astray. Their judgment is coming:

‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand My sheep from them and make them cease from feeding sheep. So the shepherds will not feed themselves anymore, but I will deliver My flock from their mouth, so that they will not be food for them.”‘” – Ezekiel 34:10

The Great Rescue Is Coming – Let Us Persevere to the End!

Because you did obey my message about persevering, I will keep you from the time of trial coming upon the whole world to put the people living on earth to the test.” – Revelation 3:10, Complete Jewish Bible

During a prayer time recently I asked the Lord what I should do. It was not about a particular situation, but a general prayer for guidance in life. I was expecting the answer might be an assignment or mission, but what He spoke I did not expect. He impressed on me that the most important thing I can do is lead my family out of here before the Great Tribulation.

Wow.

This blog is all about the reality that we are nearing the end of this age and Jesus is coming soon. That’s good news! The bad new is the Great Tribulation is coming too, when the Antichrist will rise to a position of global leadership and all hell will break out on earth.

The Great Tribulation – A Time of Unparalleled Distress

The Great Tribulation is the final threeand-ahalf years of this age before Jesus Christ returns to lead the armies of heaven, take back the earth and establish his throne in Jerusalem for a 1,000-year reign. During the final years of this age we will see the culmination of everything Satan and his fallen angels have been working on and organizing since Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden. It is Satan’s final thrust to enslave and destroy humanity and rule the earth. It is also the agenda of the New World Order elite. Much of the book of Revelation describes this period.

And they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?’ There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him… It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him.” – Revelation 13:4-5, NASB

How long will it be until the end of these wonders?” I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time; and as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed.” – Daniel 12:6-7, NASB

Forty-two months and “time, times, and half a time” are expressions for 3.5 years. The authority of the Antichrist and Satan’s beast kingdom will extend over the whole world. It will be a time of unbelievable cataclysm and persecution. The Scriptures say believers in Christ will be “shattered” and “overcome.”

If anyone is meant for captivity, into captivity he goes! If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he is to be killed!” – Revelation 13:10, Complete Jewish Bible

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” – Revelation 20:4, NASB

Furthermore, Jesus said the Great Tribulation would be like no other time in history:

For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” – Matthew 24:21-22, NASB

I don’t want my family to be here for the Great Tribulation. I don’t think anyone who understood what will be would want to be here either. Thankfully, blessedly, there is a means of escape for those who attain it. I am aware this topic is controversial, but I believe the Scriptures tell us both when it will happen and how we can escape. Please consider and read on.

The Great Rescue

I used to call this event the rapture, as many do, but I avoid that term now because it is loaded with so many preconceived notions, strong feelings and disagreements. Some accurately point out that the word “rapture” does not appear in the Scriptures, which is another reason not to use it.

However, these phrases ARE in the Bible: “rescue,” “escape” and “keep you from the time of trial coming upon the whole world.”So now I call this event the Great Rescue, which Daniel referred to in his end-times prophecies:

And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.” – Daniel 12:1

The reference to the “time of distressis the same as the Great Tribulation. Then, AT THAT TIME, everyone who is found written in the book will be rescued.

Jesus’ message to the church of Philadelphia in Revelation also mentions this rescue:

Because you did obey my message about persevering, I will keep you from the time of trial coming upon the whole world to put the people living on earth to the test.” – Revelation 3:10, Complete Jewish Bible

The “time of trial” coming on the whole world, at least for our generation, is the Great Tribulation. Jesus is offering to deliver from this trial anyone who obeys his message of perseverance. As He said in Matthew, this means a perseverance to the end:

But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.” – Matthew 24:23, Berean Study Bible

In Luke 21, after talking to his disciples about end-times events, Jesus added:

Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” – Luke 21:34-36

Jesus warned about having hearts distracted by sin and worry and worldly pleasures, because this can cause us to fall into a trap – the trap, I believe, of missing the Great Rescue and being stuck on earth during the Great Tribulation. He is referring to the events that will play out on the whole earth, just like in Revelation 3. We must stay alert (spiritually awake and in communion with God) and pray we have strength to escape all these things – in other words, to persevere. More on what this means later.

Revelation 12 contains another reference to the Great Rescue. After Satan (the dragon) and his angels are thrown to earth in Revelation, they will persecute the saints (the woman)

And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.” – Revelation 12:13-14

After a short while, the persecuted saints will be delivered from the presence of the serpent. Here again is the Great Rescue! Notice how long the saints will be hidden away – “time and times and half a time,” or 3.5 years, the full length of the Great Tribulation. Since Satan will inhabit the earth at that time, the place of deliverance must be somewhere other than earth. Heaven?

By the way, the reference to wings of an eagle and the wilderness are an allusion to how God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt and brought them to his presence on Mt. Sinai:

Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, ‘Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: “You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.”‘” – Exodus 19:3-4

In fact, the Exodus from Egypt, moving through the wilderness and finally entering the Promise Land are an amazing prophetic parallel to endtimes events. God works history in repeating patterns. The plagues on Egypt represent the coming judgments on the world. The miraculous rescue by parting the Red Sea represents the Great Rescue in the end times. For more details about this prophetic parallel, see What Comes Next for Us? The Exodus out of Egypt.

Isaiah 26 also has a reference to the Great Rescue. See Isaiah 26 – The Rapture and the Day of the Lord

Expect Tribulation and Persecution

Though I believe the Great Rescue is biblically sound, the doctrine of pre-tribulation rapture is not. We should all expect persecution and tribulation. Not only as a constant in history, but especially during the run-up to the Great Tribulation, also known as the birth pangs. I believe we are in the birth pangs right now and serious persecution has already begun. Look at what is happening to Christians in the Middle East and North Africa and China. These things are coming to the Western world too.

Please don’t let your guard down and think you won’t have to face tribulations and persecution. Pre-tribulation rapture is a siren song that lulls Christians to sleep and makes them unprepared for the coming trials. Those who embrace it are apt to lose their hope and faith when things aren’t as easy and pain-free as they were told. For more on this, see Living in the Time of the Antichrist – The Message of Daniel 11:32-35

If the Great Rescue is not a pre-trib view, then what is it? I would call it pre-wrath, because the wrath of God is poured out on earth during the Great Tribulation:

Then another angel, the one who has power over fire, came out from the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.” So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God.” – Revelation 14:18-19

The Great Rescue Timing

Next I‘ll make the case that the Scriptures place the Great Rescue at the midpoint of the final seven-year period of this age and at the start of the Great Tribulation. But I have to tell you, these things are not obvious to see. They are in fact concealed by design:

But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.” – Daniel 12:5

Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time.” – Daniel 12:9

Daniel 9:27 is a key verse that places the Great Rescue at the start of the Great Tribulation. This verse is analyzed in depth in the post Revival, Rapture, Zombie Apocalypse and Return of the King – The Message of Daniel 9:27. There I also explain why I believe the best translation to use for this verse is the Septuagint:

And one week shall establish the covenant with many: and in the midst of the week my sacrifice and drink-offering shall be taken away: and on the temple shall be the abomination of desolations; and at the end of time an end shall be put to the desolation.” – Daniel 9:27, Brenton Septuagint Translation

In the age before the coming of the Messiah, the regular sacrifice was a twice-daily offering presented to the Lord in the temple. It honored and symbolized God’s continual presence, communion and blessing among the people of Israel.

In 169 B.C., Antiochus Epiphanes conquered Jerusalem, massacred many Jews and plundered the temple. The following year he set up an altar to the pagan god Zeus in the temple. Zeus represented the chief god of the pagan pantheon, the sun-god. From a Hebrew perspective, Zeus represented the head fallen angel leading mankind astray, known as Lucifer or Satan. In other words, this was an altar to Satan in the temple of the Lord, fulfilling the prophecy in Daniel chapter 11:

Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.” – Daniel 11:31, NASB

Plundering the temple did away with the regular sacrifice and setting up the altar to Zeus was the abomination of desolation.

NOTE: Prophecies in the Bible often have multiple fulfillments, and biblical events often prefigure events that will occur in the future. As Mark Twain said, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” For example, Abraham’s sacrifice of his son Isaac prefigured God’s sacrifice of his Son Jesus. Abraham bound Isaac on Mount Moriah, the place where Solomon’s temple eventually was built, and in the city of Jerusalem where Jesus would ultimately be sacrificed. It doesn’t repeat precisely, but it rhymes. Another example is the Passover lamb that the Israelites were commanded to sacrifice and apply its blood to their door lintels to ward away the angel of death during the plagues of Egypt. The ultimate Lamb of God whose blood overcomes death is Jesus.

Antiochus Epiphanes prefigures the man of lawlessness or Antichrist that will appear in the end times according the books of Daniel, Revelation and II Thessalonians.

What does the temple of the Lord prefigure? In the age before the coming of the Messiah, the temple was a building in Jerusalem dedicated to the worship of God and holding his Presence. The moment Jesus died on the cross, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom and the earth shook. This event signified God’s Presence and power would no longer dwell in a temple in Jerusalem. Instead, God’s Spirit and Presence would dwell in our bodiesleading, empowering and teaching us.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19

At Pentecost this was fulfilled dramatically and continues to present. In the end times, the era between the first and second comings of Christ, the temple is the human body.

So, what does the regular sacrifice prefigure? The New Testament gives us clues:

You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 2:5, NASB

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” – Romans 12:1, NASB

Do you see it? WE ARE THE REGULAR SACRIFICE! We who believe in Christ and are born of the Spirit are the daily sacrifice in the temple of our bodies, as we act on obedience to the Lord.

Therefore, what is the removal or taking away of the regular sacrifice? This is the Great Rescue, as foretold by Daniel :

Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, WILL BE RESCUED.” – Daniel 12:1, NASB

Back to Daniel 9:27: And in the midst of the week my sacrifice and drink-offering shall be taken away.” The middle of the week (a 7-year period) places the Great Rescue  halfway through the 7 years, or at the start of the final 3.5-year Great Tribulation.

Isaiah 26 also places the Great Rescue before the Great Tribulation.

Furthermore, Revelation 18-19 suggest that the Great Rescue will happen sometime during the period of judgment on Mystery Babylon (America), and probably just before its final destruction by fire. For an explanation, see The Rapture Will Happen During the Period of Judgment on America.

Be a Wise Virgin

Back to the question of who is rescued. Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins addresses this directly:

Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.” – Matthew 25:1-13

Please note that all ten are virgins. Could we imply all ten have been made clean? All had lamps and oil. All wanted to meet the bridegroom. I think we are looking at a group of ten Christians, not unbelievers. Jesus is the Bridegroom, as implied in Revelation 19 and the Song of Solomon.

The only difference between the wise and the foolish virgins was that the wise ones brought extra oil. The lamps of the foolish went out before the bridegroom arrived, since he arrived later than anticipated.

The wise were welcomed to the wedding feasta wonderful and joyful celebration! But the foolish were shut out. In the end, the bridegroom said to the foolish, “I do not know you.”

What can we say about this? It appears the foolish virgins did not persevere to the end. They let worldly pleasures, worries (fears), sins and deceptions crowd out their relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, they were not received.

What does it mean to have a relationship with Jesus Christ? Jesus puts it simply here:

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. – John 10:27, NASB

A relationship means we hear his voice and do what He says. Therefore Jesus says, “I know them.” In other words, we spend time reading and taking in the word of God and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit speak to our hearts. Then we walk it out in our lives. The Apostle Paul stated it this way:

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” – Philippians 2:12-13

This does not mean we are saved by works, for we are saved by God’s grace through faith. It is the blood of Jesus Christ that covers our sins and makes is right with God. However, churches and ministries do a disservice when they portray salvation as a one-time event: Just pray this prayer! Salvation begins when we believe in Jesus Christ and are born again, but it does not stop there. Salvation is the whole process of being sanctified, walking with God, REPENTING, learning to do right and not wrong, cleaning up the bride and making her ready for the Bridegroom. Someday we will even be perfected in Christ!

By the way, attending church, participating in religious activities, reading Christian books, etc. is not the same as having a relationship with Jesus Christ. With the state of the American church as lukewarm and deluded as it is, doing those things can even be a hindrance. Many people are deceived into thinking they are walking with God when they are not, simply because they perform religious activities. You can’t go wrong if you stick to the basics: Faith, Bible, Holy Spirit, obedience.

The Great Rescue is a reward for faithful Christians who persevere to the end. God is a jealous God, and Jesus Christ wants to be first in our lives. He rewards faithfulness in a BIG WAY.

Conclusion

Praise God He has given us a way out! Not a complete pass from tribulation and persecution, but a Great Rescue from the worst of it.

By God’s grace, I intend to lead my family out of here. I want to carry out the work God has for me to do, and then I’m outta here!

To everyone reading this message, I hope you will resolve in your heart to do the same.

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:6
